The practice of law for a Foreign Legal Consultant is limited in the States of California and New York.

What license/certification does a Foreign Legal Consultant require?

Please be advised that a Foreign Legal Consultant in California must be registered in The State Bar of California to be permitted to practice the law of the country in which the attorney was admitted.

The same rules are applicable to be admitted to the Judicial Department in  New York to practice the law of the country in which the attorney had been  admitted.

Can a foreign legal Consultant represent me in a court proceeding in the state of California or New York at a federal/state level?

NO.

A foreign legal consultant can only provide legal advice from the country where he/she was admitted as a lawyer.
